About the designer: Daughters Of The Ganges
Daughters of the Ganges (DOTG), inspired by a deep social conscience, is an ethical jewellery brand based in the UK that creates beautiful jewellery in an ethical and sustainable way.
The brand was born from a desire to try and alleviate some of the economic worries of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in India. They are achieving this by offering jobs to skilled artisans, largely women, and treating them to Fair Trade principles- such as fair and equal pay, ethical sourcing and safe working environments. For women who are unable to leave their homes, DOTG provide them with raw materials and tools to work from home.
Partnering with CFM Market Linkages, a WFTO certified organisation, DOTG sources their products from artisan communities that have passed on their skills through the ages and are keen to nurture their cherished traditions and crafts.
Every product you buy from DOTG is totally unique, ethically handmade, and helps to continue the livelihoods for many artisan communities in India's most vulnerable areas.
